Bronze Sponsor of Research Triangle Regional Reality Check 2009
RTP, N.C. – February 19, 2009 –The John R. McAdams Company, a land development design and consulting firm based in Research Triangle Park with offices in Charlotte and Wilmington, has created and is contributing the mapping for the Research Triangle Regional Reality Check that took place February 24 at the Raleigh Convention Center. The Research Triangle Regional Reality Check is a program of the Urban Land Institute with the process being a joint initiative of Triangle Tomorrow and the Triangle District Council of Urban Land Institute.
Reality Check was a half-day visioning exercise engaging leaders from around the region to discuss future area growth and how to compete in the global economy. The exercise allowed a diverse group of 300 political, business, environmental and civic leaders to work in small groups to analyze, discuss and brainstorm suggestions concerning growth scenarios over the next 25 years. At the completion of the exercise, the results were presented to a larger group of 1,000 interested stakeholders February 27th at Meymandi Concert Hall. The results will be used to kick off a long-range planning and implementation process designed to help leaders and residents envision alternative growth scenarios.
“Reality Check was an eye-opening exercise that will allow the greater Triangle community to forecast what can be done to accommodate the anticipated growth from 2.03 million people in the Triangle today to 3.2 million in 2030 and make the Triangle truly a world-class livable community,” said McAdams’ President John McAdams. “As a land development design firm, we are extremely interested in seeing how this dynamic exercise can be used for generating consensus related to growth issues.”
The McAdams Company has contributed the creation and production of large 67-by-76-inch maps of the 13-county region being utilized during the half-day visioning exercise.
