Cara Lacey Earns AICP Certification
RTP, N.C. – February 5, 2009 –The John R. McAdams Company’s Cara Lacey recently became a certified planner through the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP).
Lacey serves as a senior planner in The McAdams Company’s land planning department. She is responsible for managing projects through entitlement approval processes within various jurisdictions. This includes land use plan amendments, zoning map changes and site plan approval for multiple projects. She prepares and makes presentations to assorted boards in order to achieve and secure those approvals. In addition, she takes on many of the other varying aspects of planning through close contact with jurisdictional staff and continuing education.
“Becoming a certified planner is no easy task,” said Bob Zumwalt, McAdams Director of Land Planning. “Cara has effectively used the combination of her education and her planning experience to pass the rigorous requirements needed to become a certified planner. We are proud of her commitment to the planning industry and to continuing her professional education.”
AICP certifies professionals in the field of urban and regional planning and assists planners in the areas of ethics, professional development, planning education, and the standards of planning practice. AICP certification is recognized throughout the United States as the mark of a professional planner. Members of AICP pledge to adhere to a detailed Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct. To become certified, a planner must have an appropriate combination of relevant education and professional experience, must pass an examination that tests planning skills and knowledge and must be a member of the American Planning Association.
