Cara Lacey Earns LEED Certification

Cara Lacey, a certified senior planner in the company’s land planning department, recently attained her Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) AP accreditation through the U.S. Green Building Council.

As a senior planner, Lacey is responsible for managing projects through entitlement approval processes within various jurisdictions. This includes land use plan amendments, zoning map changes and site plan approval for multiple projects. She prepares and makes presentations to various boards in order to achieve and secure those approvals. Her LEED accreditation will allow her to advise clients on the LEED process and combine the LEED process with planning principles to aid clients in attaining LEED points for their projects.

The McAdams Company’s commitment to promoting and facilitating sustainable development practices is evident in the many LEED certified projects the company has worked on throughout its 30-year history. Lacey’s accreditation furthers the company’s mission to continue exploring opportunities to earn LEED credits for its projects from site selection through the completion of a project.

“Cara has tremendous experience in the field of urban and regional planning,” said Bob Zumwalt, McAdams Director of Land Planning. “Becoming LEED certified just enhances her effectiveness in finding additional ways to make the projects she works on LEED successes.”

LEED AP candidates must have building industry knowledge as well as experience working with green building professionals from multiple disciplines. The LEED AP credential signifies an extraordinary depth of knowledge in green building practices and specialization in a particular field: commercial design and construction, commercial operations and maintenance, commercial interiors, residential design and construction, and neighborhood development.
