He is responsible for the GPS control networks, mission planning and network adjustments, integrating GIS with survey data and the development of 3D data modeling and machine control. He also recently became a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Accredited Professional (LEED AP) by passing the Green Building Certification Institute’s LEED Professional Accreditation exam.
“Sam’s commitment to staying on top of the latest developments in the industry will help him and the McAdams Company better serve our clients,” said Greg Sallee, McAdams Director of Construction Services. “Sam already has extensive experience and is now taking it to the next level by earning his PLS license.”
In order to obtain a Professional Surveyor license, a person must submit an application to the North Carolina Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors that documents and demonstrates the required education and experience. Additionally, a person must complete 16 hours of examinations from the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying. The exams include the Fundamentals of Surveying and the Principles and Practice of Surveying.
The Fundamentals of Surveying written exam tests applicants on their knowledge of basic surveying principles. The Principles and Practice of Surveying exam tests the applicant’s academic knowledge as well as knowledge gained in surveying practice.
