The John R. McAdams Company Celebrates 30th Anniversary
RTP, N.C. – March 30, 2009 –The John R. McAdams Company, a cornerstone in the North Carolina land development and engineering industry, celebrates its 30th anniversary on April 2.
In 1979, John McAdams’ professional ambition and entrepreneurial spirit led to the creation of The John R. McAdams Company and the establishment of the company’s headquarters first in Chapel Hill and 10 years later in Research Triangle Park. Fast-forward 30 years and the company now has additional offices in Charlotte and Wilmington.
The McAdams Company provides land development design services including land planning, zoning and permitting, surveying, site engineering, construction services, stormwater and environmental services, and landscape architecture. Throughout the years, the company has provided a high standard of service to its clients and expanded its capabilities in order to accommodate client needs. This commitment to quality service has allowed the company to work with Fortune 500 companies, major developers, universities and local governments as well as have a hand in the success of some of the largest developments in the state. Among those projects are The Streets at Southpoint Mall, North Hills redevelopment, Brier Creek Country Club and Corporate Center in Raleigh, Landfall in Wilmington, Silver Landing and 77 Overlook Park in Charlotte, Meadowmont and East 54 in Chapel Hill, Winmore in Carrboro, San Rio in Shallotte, SearStone in Cary, and University Marketplace and Renaissance Village in Durham.
McAdams’ vision continues with the creation of a new division within the last year called EcoEngineering. The division provides specialized environmental and stormwater services to private and public clients in the Carolinas and Virginia. The division is made up of regional stormwater experts, professional wetland scientists and registered environmental managers.
The McAdams Company has long been an advocate for promoting and facilitating sustainable development practices. The company was at the forefront of the “green” movement in the early 90’s with the innovative stormwater plan the firm created for Meadowmont in Chapel Hill, the first master-planned community of its kind in the area. Now the McAdams Company and its EcoEngineering division are honing its sustainable designing skills by providing stormwater harvesting and water reuse plans for major universities, as well as incorporating innovative stormwater management systems in urban settings for private projects across the state.
