Triangle Development Fees Update
Town of Cary
On April 1, 2008 Cary Town Council voted to increase Sewer Development fees by 31% and to increase Water Development Fees by 7%, effective July 1, 2008. The Council decided not to increase the Transportation Development Fees.
There may also be a new Parks & Recreation fee being considered for new multifamily dwellings in Cary. The Parks & Recreation Department is currently working with a consultant and may come forward with a recommendation for the basis of such a fee to Council as early as May 2008.

City of Raleigh
The Raleigh Planning Commission is still considering the Text Change proposing a significant increase to Transportation and Open Space fees after last year’s 72% increase to fees.
Click HERE to see what increases are proposed for Transportation Fees, which are more than double in a lot of cases.
City of Durham
In March the Durham City Council voted to approve an increase to Transportation and Parks and Open Space Development fees for 2008-2009, but postponed discussion of any increase for 2009-2010.
The fees vary by land use and geography, but the approval will result in increases to the transportation fees in southern and downtown areas of about 24% and 30%, respectively. Click HERE to see the approved transportation fees effective July 1, 2008.
The combined parks construction and open space fees will increase by about 44% for single-family homes and by about 111% for multifamily units.
