Camden Townhomes - Multi-Family - Cary, North Carolina
Camden Townhomes is a prestigious community located in the master-planned community of Cary Park. Its close proximity to the Research Triangle Park, the RDU Airport, and Interstates 540 and 40 make it an extremely sought after location. Gateway Homes retained the McAdams Company to carry Camden Townhomes from concept planning through the approval process, permitting, and construction drawings to final plats and certifications.
One of the challenges unique to this development was that of private alleys and how they should be treated. This required that the firm’s Planning experts take a leadership role in working with the Town’s staff regarding allowable uses in their ordinances and how the alleys would actually function. The end result was achieving a reduction in roadway width and driveway depths. Close coordination with the architects provided creative unit offsets in setbacks without extensive roadway movement. Creative design also played a major role in accomplishing the required parking thresholds on developable land.
One of the fun design elements in this community was the mid-process addition of a community pool and amenity center by the Client. Even realizing the prospect of a reduction in the
number of completed units, the Client felt it important
to provide upscale facilities over and above that of the master-planned community amenities. The result is a small group of prestigious townhomes, built in a perfect location, with great facilities, for an executive lifestyle.
