Heritage Spring - Senior Living - Wake Forest, North Carolina

First Centrum Communities retained The John R. McAdams Company to bring their vision of an active community for those 55 or better to the growing residential options in the Town of Wake Forest in North Carolina. With innovative designs for those with active lifestyles, First Centrum is one of the nation’s leading developers of housing for seniors.

Focused on introducing the first patio home development within Heritage Wake Forest, Heritage Spring is nestled in the newest section of the master-planned community, just off of Rogers Road. There are forty-eight one- and two-story duplex patio homes that feature attached garages with side entries and shared driveways.

One of the exciting components of this development was that it’s design and approvals coincided with the Town of Wake Forest public utilities being converted to ownership by the City of Raleigh. This perfect timing meant that what could have potentially been dual approvals and review processes were actually triaged through Wake Forest as the final transfer to Raleigh had yet to occur. Intense coordination for the design team paid off for First Centrum.

During the construction phase, First Centrum was constantly approached by potential new homeowners to add a “gathering place”. When asked to offer a solution, the McAdams landscape architecture design team quickly responded with a central gathering area using a variety of hardscape and landscape applications to create a sense of place for the community.
