North Mecklenburg Industrial Park - Office/Industrial - Huntersville, North Carolina

The Lake Norman Region Economic Development Commission (LNREDC), representing Huntersville, Cornelius, and Davidson, is developing a new industrial park known as North Mecklenburg Business Park, located in Huntersville. The Park is being developed on a 126-acre tract that the three towns have jointly purchased to generate jobs and economic development for the area. The Commission’s first occupant is Prairie Packaging, a disposable dinnerware company that built a 250,000 SF distribution center.

LNREDC retained McAdams Company’s Charlotte office to provide engineering services related to the design of water, sewer and roadway infrastructure for the park as well as permitting and approval services. The project includes 3,500 LF of roadway and a stormwater pond. The Client demanded extremely accurate and timely delivery of services in order to meet facility opening and operational schedules. The development approval process included specific approval from Norfolk Southern Railroad. McAdams Company utilized a unique sharing system resulting in utility installation closer to rail lines than normally allowed. The McAdams team also secured relief from standard CMUD procedures in order to expedite construction completion. Ultimately, the mission was accomplished by McAdams Company assisting the LNREDC with a project that positively affects an entire region.
