Midland, McAdams Blaze Trail to Tryon Village
Tryon Village, one of Cary, North Carolina’s first developments to be built in the Town’s new Activity Center Zoning District, is a mixed-use community including 170,000 SF of retail, 394 apartment homes, 137 town homes and 129,000 SF of office. The project also includes dedicated land for a Town of Cary park, four ponds and 4,804 LF of greenway. Located at the corner of Walnut Street and Tryon Road, the village compliments the already thriving commercial growth in East Cary.
Midland Atlantic Associates, a loyal client of McAdams Company, relied on the firm to guide them through the uncharted waters of the Town’s new Zoning Ordinance, while providing master planning, traffic engineering, topographic survey and platting, wetland delineation and permitting as well as stormwater management. The 90-acre development also presented such challenges as transportation coordination of access points with Cary and NCDOT, multiple wetlands issues, as well as the Cary greenway and increased buffer requirements. McAdams Company’s layout revisions and infrastructure design minimized wetlands impacts to below national thresholds. McAdams also provided Midland with solutions allowing for the quick sale of the site’s out parcels prior to final approval of all construction drawings, generating needed capital for the sites overall development.
